In November 2025, Township commissioners voted to make Lower Merion the first in Pennsylvania – following the lead of many communities like ours nationwide – to prioritize public health and environmental sustainability by phasing out the use of dangerous gas-powered leaf blowers.
The change began on June 1, 2026 and LM is now becoming cleaner and quieter for all who live and work here. But the promise of this historic ordinance won’t be realized unless everyone does their part by letting Township staff know when it’s not being honored.
It’s easy. When you see anyone using a gas-powered leaf blower in Lower Merion, provide the date, time, and location in an email to our township’s Building and Planning Department.
